Diet Shmiet

I’m on a diet. It’s not the keto diet or Atkins. It’s not paleo or the South Beach Diet. It’s a combination of several resources I’ve followed for living a healthy lifestyle. I did the Lifetime Fitness D.Tox and then followed up with their Lean and Tone program. I’ve always been a pretty healthy eater for the most part, so I didn’t find it hard to follow the restrictions…except dairy. That was a little difficult with cheese and sour cream. I’m also currently on day 26 of the Arbonne 30 days to Healthy Living challenge. It’s very similar to the one Lifetime does except for a few differences, like avoid vinegar and it’s twice as long.

I’m simultaneously on day 5 of the Clean & Lean program by Ian K. Smith, M.D. Lastly (I think), I decided to go back to a vegetarian (almost vegan right now) lifestyle. The Clean & Lean program does allow and encourages dairy, but I’m still avoiding that at least until I finish the 30 days with Arbonne. That’s why I say I’m almost vegan right now. The other huge part of this program is intermittent fasting (IF). I’ve read about IF in the past and knew what it was, although I didn’t know there are three different options, but I had never tried it. You can do 12:12, 14:10, or 16:8, which is what I’m doing. The first number is how long you fast and the second is the feeding time. The shorter the feed window the more likely you are to lose weight.

So, Lifetime’s Lean and Tone program also provides participants with 3 weeks of workouts and a bonus workout, which I love and continue to follow 3 days a week at the gym. Every other day I run.

I know that your diet is like 75% of what contributes to weight loss, but for me, if I don’t workout regularly I gain weight. I’m only trying to lose 10 pounds but I want to be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle instead of fluctuating up 10 pounds all the time.

Basically, what I’m saying is that we are all different. We all have different goals for weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight. I think as far as food goes we all know what’s healthy and what’s not. At least I hope so. Fresh is better than processed. I choose not to eat meat some people choose to eat paleo style. Both are fine. Everything in moderation, right? Find something that works for you and your body AND your lifestyle.

Since I started writing this content, I have finished my Arbonne 30 days to Healthy Living. I love the 3 main ingredients in the Arbonne protein shake…vanilla, pea based, protein, fiber, and greens. It tastes great and gives me what I need to get through the day and do it in a healthy way. When I’m hungry and struggling to figure out what to eat, I know I can always turn to the shake. I’m going to weigh myself, do my measurements and take my after pictures in the morning. Then I’ll jump back on here and share my results. I’m also on week 2 of 16:8 intermittent fasting, which I think helps me not to eat junk late at night (like from 9-10pm).

Well, I blew it. We just got back from a long weekend in the Los Angeles area and I am now 7 pounds heavier. It might not sound like a lot….I guess it’s not, but it happened in 5 days. Why is it so much easier to put it on than to take it off. I didn’t eat horribly, but I only worked out one day. I didn’t stick to my intermittent fasting schedule and now I feel like a loser with no discipline. Man, we really beat ourselves up, don’t we? I’m not 100% back to the grind yet, but I’m moving that direction.

It was an amazing trip, though!! I’ll tell y’all about that next time. Meanwhile, I’m going to set my goals on how I can stick to my healthy lifestyle no matter where I am or what I’m doing.

Talk to you next time,

This is me!

Welcome to my very first blog post! It’s funny to be writing this now because I was recently listening to a Rachel Hollis/Rise podcast with guest Julie Soloman, and I learned from her that when you’re in a spot where you are looking for friends and/or like-minded people to interact with…you create a blog. I didn’t realize it all the times over the past few years when I thought about starting my own blog, but right when I finally get my WordPress up, start writing, etc. THEN I discover that’s what we all do!

That didn’t change my mind, though. I feel like I have lived, in this lifetime, at least two completely different adult lives that has caused me to have a lot to share with the world. The younger me of my past is mostly gone and the new me is the one looking to share interests and experiences with some new people. BUT, it’s hard to find those people when you are a stay at home mom. I had some close friends from my Army Reserve unit, but they have either gotten out of the military and moved on to living a busy life or live in another state. Besides that, I just transferred to a new unit on different military installment.

As I mentioned, I am a stay at home mom, but I haven’t always been. I have 5 boys. Yes 5! Three of them are older and I have two little ones (2 and 3, they are about 16 months apart), plus I am stepmom to two boys from my husband! I am finally married to the love of my life, Ryan. My husband supports just about everything I do and I’m extremely lucky because I start up new diets and routines and ideas all the time. It’s been a hard road to get where I’m at, but I’ve never been happier, and I know things are only going to get better and better.

Although I stay at home with my youngest boys, I am also in the Army Reserves – 10 years this coming December. I am also an Independent Consultant for Arbonne and beginning in September I will be home preschooling my 2 and 3-year-old, Brayden and Jaxson. I’m also slowing studying online for my Real Estate license/exam. I am going back to school for the Spring semester to finally finish my bachelor’s degree in Health and Wellness. (See what I meant about starting new things!!) Oh, and I also have plans to go to Yoga Teacher Training through my gym to get certified.

I have a passion for health and wellness, for us as humans, and for our planet. I’m currently doing the Arbonne 30 days to Healthy Living program (week 3), reading Clean & Lean by Ian K. Smith, MD, and returning to my previous vegetarian lifestyle. I have been completely sober for almost 4 years. I try to workout at least 5 days a week and I’m always looking for new challenges to do fitness wise, but my husband only runs when being chased and his idea of exercise is walking to the mailbox! He is the owner, president, and General Contractor for an up and coming construction business so he’s always on the go and very busy. A lot of times he easily passes me on daily steps even with my workouts!! So, I’ll give him a pass. 😉

Well, I’ve added yet another ambition to my list! I was at the last Farmers Market of the season in my neighborhood yesterday (I had an Arbonne tent) and a recently retired firefighter approached me an encouraged me to apply as a firefighter. He got me so excited and motivated about it that I started looking into it (slow day at the market) on my phone. I took the EMT course years ago, so I’ll need to take that again, but with that, all I need to do is take the national test and physical test to apply! I’ve #goalsgalore!!

Anyway, that’s a long introduction and it’s really only the tip of the iceberg of who I am now and the journey I took to get where I’m currently at. I’m looking forward to sharing and discussing my life lessons and the knowledge I have from it all. I’m eager to discuss and experience new topics, common topics from different perspectives (mine!), and whatever else pops up in life, with all the world! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to meet me! I’d like to hear from all of you too!

Fingers Crossed,
